The friendly start guide for young train bosses
This guide is aimed at OpenTTD — the free, open-source version of Transport Tycoon (openttd.org). Everything here uses a coal-mine-to-power-station example because it's the simplest money-maker to learn on.
If breakdowns or disasters frustrate a young player, they can be turned off in Settings → Vehicles and Settings → Environment. Starting a new game with a smaller map and a later start year gives faster, stronger trains. It reads best if you play alongside them for the first railway or two.
